Hey, Deadoll!
I've been talking with about a more Fae take on the Slenderman.
One of the more well-known forest spirits in old English folklore is the "Green Man", who represents the all vegetative life and birth (particularly of forests and crops).
Now this is a bit of a stretch, but the Green man is normally covered by leaves- but what happens to him when it's winter? Maybe he also changes with his plants and becomes more focused on his survival? Perhaps in exchange for giving us wood and harvest he believes that he during the winter he believes that we return the favor.
Maybe he particularly chooses rambunctious children because people don't see the change in behavior as a drastic change; but just the child acting or growing up or asking for trouble? Maybe he actually does listen to them and take them away from the people who don't?
Another thing that I like about this idea is that; some pale greens- especially at night with a pointed source of night can be seen as white.
